As we cross W Zia Road to leave ECO, we spot a huge playground next to Ragle Park at the base of a school. It's the Home of the Firebirds - Chaparral Elementary! Chaparral translates into Spanish as “place of the scrub oak.” Chaparral is a region where the shrub grows stretching from Oregon to Mexico and throughout parts of the southwestern U.S. Chaparral Elementary practices high standards and expects excellence in everything they do. They believe that everyone at Chaparral deserves to work, learn and play in a positive, kind environment. Staff is dedicated to students being engaged and supported in growing academically, socially and emotionally.
