UPDATED SEPTEMBER 13, 2020
We love our Firebirds!

Good evening families,

It is hard to believe that we are already mid-way through the 1st quarter of school! Time flies when you are having fun! This past week, I had the opportunity to read to most of our classes. It warmed my heart to see all our Firebirds! Most classes got to 'meet' our new cat, Timothy and I had the pleasure of receiving lots of advice about having a cat! (We need all the help we can get!).

As we approach the end of the 1st quarter, it is important for families to know that our district anticipates returning, in a hybrid model, mid October. Some families have already chosen to have their child stay in remote learning for the duration of the school year and this will continue to be an option. For these families, the routine/expectations will stay very similar.

For those that plan to come back in a hybrid model, students will, likely, come to school 2 days a week and participate in remote learning the other 3 days. Our grade level teams are currently working to establish which teacher will take the lead with remote learning and which teacher will take the lead with in-person/hybrid learning. This may require some roster changes, but be assured that our teachers are working very hard to stay aligned so that this transition is as smooth as possible.

Our school and district are working very hard to create a plan that puts students 1st, supports high expectations, strong academics and honors your child and family. There is still much to be figured out! I will do my very best to keep you informed as I receive more information. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions/concerns.

Gratefully,

Mrs. Maestas
