Registration for the 2017-2018 School Year

Next week is registration for the 2017-2018 academic year.  You should have received an Intent Form and an Emergency Form regarding next year.   Both forms need to be returned to the school to your child’s teacher.  

Hours and Days of Registration:  March 13-15 8:30 am-3:30 pm                                  
March 16
and 17  8:30 am-5:30 pm.                                                                                     

WHO REGISTERS?  New Kindergarten students, Students who will be new to Chaparral, and Grade 6 students going to an SFPS school for Grade 7.

Next Family Event: Chaparral’s Spring Carnival Saturday, April 22, 2017

We plan to have a Spring Carnival on April 22 at Chaparral.  We will need many volunteers to run games. We also need donations from the community for Silent Auction and the creation of Gift Baskets.  Please feel free to drop these items off in the office beginning this week.  

PARCC Information for Families:

The PARCC  evenings will continue this month on Wednesday from 6:00-7:00pm.  We can have families try out an assessment and students can demonstrate their use of PARCC tools for taking the assessment.  This will be done March 8 and 15 from 6-7 pm.

Boys Basketball: The C Squad are the City Champions for Division 5 and the B Squad are the Third Place winners for Division 3.  Congratulations! Thank you to the coaches and the families who supported the team during the season and the Championship games.  

Attendance:  Last week Chaparral attendance was 92.9% and Amy Biehl was 96.5%.   (You will see me in a green shirt again this Friday) Our Goal is 97%.   We are highly encouraging hand washing to students in this season of stomach viruses and flu cases.  

PBIS : (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)  We are creating an all-school system to support and encourage positive behaviors throughout the school.  This involves training of the staff, planning lessons for common areas of the school  (playground, cafeteria, etc.) and input from parents. If you would like to assist, please contact Mrs. Korce. Our goal is to create a supportive climate for all members of the Chaparral Community by positively communicating behavior expectations.

K 3 Plus:  Chaparral is able to provide a K-3 Plus Program again this summer.  K-3 Plus  is a 25 day summer program that gives students a head start on the 2017-’18 academic year. Children are eligible to apply if they will be entering Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade in the fall of 2017. Dates for K 3 Plus are: June 16-30,  (July 3 and 4 off),  and July 5-24.  

Attendance to the K 3 Plus Program is critical for funding.
Call the Office and reserve a space.
Registration forms went home on 3/6/2017.
 
Please complete and return forms by Friday, March 10, 2017. (Space is limited!)

P.S. Even more announcements:

Order your Yearbook now! Chaparral’s yearbook will come out in May, but the time to order is now! Only a limited number of yearbooks are printed, so order now if you would like a copy. Fill out an order form and attach an envelope with  cash or check for $20. Be sure to label the envelope with your child’s name and your child’s teacher’s name.

Spring Picture Day will be March 29. Class pictures will be taken and group photos will be taken of sports teams and clubs. Individual pictures will be taken of children whose families have pre-ordered and pre-paid for an individual photo package. Order forms for individual, group, and class pictures will be sent home on Monday, March 13.
