Spring Carnival and Silent Auction: The PTA is preparing for the April 22 Spring Carnival and Silent Auction.  Your children are very excited about having a carnival, so please plan to contact Victoria Carbajal to help.  We are currently collecting Theme Basket items and Silent Auction Items at the school.

Spring Concert: April 27 at 6 pm

Very Important Information for Families:

The PARCC assessment will be conducted beginning April 10 through April 28.  This includes administering the assessment and make-up assessments.  The students will need to get plenty of sleep those weeks and eat nutritious food.  We would sincerely appreciate having students arrive on time as the assessments for each grade could begin as early as 8:15.  We sent a note home with tips for testing.

Quality of Education Survey: This annual survey is your opportunity to give feedback about our school so we can take direction when planning improvements for next year. You may take the survey online or on paper. Your student was given a card to take home with a link to the online Quality of Education Survey. We were alarmed to see some of these cards in the trash! We also sent home a copy of the survey on paper (a hard copy). Please complete and return the paper survey or return the card to indicate that you completed the survey online. All survey input is needed by April 21st. Fill out your survey so your voice will be heard!

Attendance: The week of March 13-17, Chaparral attendance was 93.3% and Amy Biehl was 94.3% ( I am forced to wear an Amy Biehl shirt on Friday.)  Our Goal for attendance remains at 97%.

PBIS : (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)  We are creating an all-school system to support and encourage positive behaviors throughout the school.  This involves training of the staff, planning lessons for common areas of the school (playground, cafeteria, etc.) and input from parents. If you would like to assist, please contact Mrs. Korce. Ms. Gustafson’s grade 6 has created a wonderful video for playground rules and we plan to continue with this project. Our goal is to create a supportive climate for all members of the Chaparral Community by positively communicating behavior expectations.

Registration for students going into 7th grade next year: Our grade 6 students will be moving on next year! We need all grade 6 parents to register their children for grade 7. Registration for 7th grade is done here at Chaparral. We have had only a few students register and need parents to take care of this.  We can continue to register children entering Kindergarten next year.

K-3 Plus: The classes are filling up for K- 3 Plus.  Please check in the office to see if we are able to help your students going into grades K-3 take advantage of this great summer program.

Please feel free to call with questions and to volunteer to assist with PBIS,
