Student Activities
Students in grades 3 and Ms. Vigil’s and Ms. Fran’s classes will be attending a PASS performance on Wednesday, January 18 at the Scottish Rite Temple.  Permission slips have gone home prior to this week and must be completed in order for students to attend.

Access Assessment
ELL students will be taking an evaluation next week (Jan. 23-27)  to assess English proficiency.  Only students attending ELL classes 45 minutes per day during Intervention time with a TESOL endorsed teacher will take the assessment.

Bus Students:
What if a student needs to get off the bus at a different stop one day?  There is a form for that in the Office. The form needs to be filled out by the children's families and submitted to the Office one day prior to the change of destination.

After the form has been completed by the families, the form needs to be signed by the principal. This assures the school that both families (the family of the child changing stops and the family who will receive the child) have knowledge of the change for the day and the bus driver has documentation of the change.

The Basketball teams are currently playing games on Wednesdays, Thursdays , and Saturdays. There is a schedule for each squad in the office.  Please support the players by attending games.
Forms to join the volleyball team are available in the office.

A special Thank you goes out to the volunteer coaches and assistants who are working with the teams this year.  Your dedication to extra-curricular activities is greatly appreciated.

PARCC Information for Families:
In order for parents to support students and gain information about the PARCC assessment that will be given in April, Mrs. Korce will host an Open Lab time for families on Wednesdays for five weeks. This will begin at 6:00 every Wednesday beginning Jan. 25, 2017. (Jan. 25, Feb. 1, 8, 15, and 22)

Attendance Competition:
Last week, Chaparral's attendance rate was 93.9 % and Amy Biehl’s was 94.4%.  Based on this, Mrs. Korce will have to wear an Amy Biehl t-shirt at Chaparral on January 20! Let’s get our lead back! The district would like our attendance rate to rise to 97%!

Parent-Teacher Conferences for all students at Chaparral will take place Feb. 16 and 17. Schedules coming soon.

Questions? Please feel free to contact Coleen Korce in the office at 505-467-1402 or 505-204-9184.
