Math Night a Happy Success

Math Night a Happy Success
Not Your Average Bingo Game!

Winning this Bingo game makes a person extra proud. When a number is called, players must look on their cards, not for the number, but for an equation that equals that number.

If the number called is 9, and it's Addition Bingo, a player could find a square with 7+2 or 6+3, for example.

It it's Multiplication Bingo, players would look for 3x3 or 9x1 or 1x9.

Kind of challenging--and lots of fun!

Math Bingo was just one of many math activities engaging students and families at Math Night last week. There were brain teasers with answers that seemed almost like magic. A stack of giant cubes taller than most students was similar to a Rubik's Cube--but more vexing. Less vexing and lots of fun was face-painting with math symbols and equations. These and many more experiences kept students and their families happily puzzling around the cafeteria.

The math extravaganza was masterminded by the 5th grade team and carried out with the help of staff, students, and families.
