Literacy Night

We had a great turn-out for Literacy Night with at least 175 families and students in attendance to enjoy free pencils and books, the BOGO Book Fair, Word Scavenger Hunts, learning about Chromebooks, making bookmarks, taking Dr. Seuss pictures, the Cat in the the Hat, playing guessing games with hidden  items, and citing text, all served up with a  with a delicious Spaghetti Dinner.  Thank you PTA and Chaparral Staff for making this possible.  

Next Family Event:

We plan to have a Spring Carnival on April 22 at chaparral.  We will need many volunteers to run games as well as donations from the community for silent Auction and the creation of Gift Baskets.  

PARCC Information for Families:

The PARCC  evenings will continue this month on Wednesday from 6:00-7:00pm.  We can have families try out an assessment and students can demonstrate their use of PARCC tools for taking the assessment.    This wil be done March 1, 8, and 15 from 6-7 pm.  


Volleyball games will be on Saturdays beginning this week.

Boys Basketball: Both the B and C Squads have made it through the first bracket of  their tournament games in their division. The C Squad will play the next tournament game on Wednesday, March 1 at 4:30 at Chaparral and the B Squad will play the next tournament game at 5:30 at Chaparral at 5:30.   

The A Squad had a great Season and we sincerely thank the coaches for all their support of our students.  

Attendance:  Last week Chaparral attendance was 94.8% and Amy Biehl was 95.1% (You will see me in a green shirt this Friday) Our Goal is 97%.

PBIS : (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)  We are creating an all-school system to support and encourage positive behaviors throughout the school.  This involves training of the staff, planning lessons for common areas of the school  (playground, cafeteria, etc.) and input from parents. If you would like to assist, please contact Mrs. Korce. Our goal is to create a supportive climate for all members of the Chaparral Community by positively communicating behavior expectations.
