Welcome Back

We are pleased to be back at school and hope the winter break was restful and fun for all our families.

New Staff

We welcome a new staff member to our Chaparral Community .  Ms. Kimberly Rhodes has joined us to teach Grade 3.   She is sending home a letter today with her students with her professional history and we are very pleased to have her here at Chaparral.

We have had a mild winter so far. However, the chances of cold temperatures and storms could still develop so please remember to have students dress accordingly.  We will continue to go outside when temperatures dip below 30 degrees and students are given a choice when this is the case for the early morning recess that occurs prior to the start of the academic day.

PARCC Assessment

The annual Summative assessment will be given to grades 3-6 in April. We plan to have evening information sessions for families and will send home dates for these evenings after a staff training update for using PARCC tools on the computer.

Attendance Competition

Remember that Chaparral has challenged Amy Biehl in an Attendance competition.  We will be doing this weekly beginning in January.  If Amy Biehl has better attendance than Chaparral, Mrs. Korce will have to wear Amy Biehl’s  t-shirt on Friday and vice versa. (If  Chaparral wins, the principal at Amy Biehl will have to wear Chaparral’s  t-shirt.)   Let’s beat Amy Biehl!

Progress Reports: Progress reports for the second quarter will be sent home with students next Wednesday.

Parent Teacher conferences will be held for all students on Feb. 16 and 17, 2017.  Schedule to be sent next Wednesday.

Please feel free to contact Coleen Korce in the office at 505-467-1402 or 505-204-9184
