School Hours

Key to School Success:

Be at school for every minute of every day!

  • 8:00 am-3:00 pm Monday-Thursday

  • 8:00 am-12:40 pm Friday

  • At 7:55 am, students line up and teachers accompany them to the classroom.

  • Students are to be at their desks by 8:00 am.

  • Students may arrive as early as 7:30 am.

  • They are supervised by staff in the Gym from 7:30-7:40 am.

  • Students wishing to eat breakfast in the cafeteria are escorted there by staff at 7:30.
  • The rest of the students are escorted up to the playground at 7:40.
  • If the weather is very cold (15 degrees or colder) or very rainy, students will be supervised in the Gym instead of the playground.

LATE ARRIVAL causes students to lose learning time.

  • It is very important that students arrive on time to maximize their learning (study after study supports this).

  • Children arriving late miss learning time. In addition, a student’s late arrival distracts the other students from the lesson.

  • The student must be signed in at the Office by the parent or guardian.

  • The student will be marked Tardy.

  • 3:00 pm Monday-Thursday

  • 12:40 pm Friday

... Hour, Three O'Clock

EARLY PICK-UP is harmful to success in school.

  • Children picked up before dismissal time are marked Tardy.

  • Very important information is often transmitted in the last minutes of the school day: homework assignments are given, deadlines are reviewed, announcements are made, and questions are answered.

  • Students picked up before dismissal time are at high risk of getting behind in their school work.

  • If you must pick up your student early, you must sign the student out at the Office and wait for the student there.

  • If the early pick-up is not absolutely necessary, you will be asked to wait until dismissal time. When the Office must call a classroom for an early pick-up, the entire class is interrupted. That is not fair to the other students and it is not fair to the teacher.

When a child is sick

If illness prevents your child from attending school, please notify the Secretary and the child’s teacher by phone, email, or written note.

Every minute counts: It is exciting to think of the learning that will occur when every student is present all day, every day!
